I now wish that I had decided to use one. I had a pretty long pitocin-augmented labor (due to my water breaking, but not having contractions on my own). I really wanted to go natural, but ended up giving in to the epidural. My husband and my mom were there for me during labor, and they were great, but when I was practically begging for the epidural, they couldn't bring themselves to talk me out of it. I truly think doula's are the best thing ever. I recommend it to anyone I know who is pregnant. Our hospital provided doula's for a fee, but even paying full price would be so worth it.
