Adoption Announcements

If you’re reading this, you probably agree that there’s lots to love about mom blogs! I love hearing about experiences that are like mine – moms raising boys, stay-at-home moms, breastfeeding moms. These blogs remind me that I’m not alone in my journey (whether that day’s journey was fun or frustrating!).

I also love hearing about experiences that are different from my own – moms with school-age kids, moms of multiples, moms living in a different part of the country, or another country altogether. These blogs teach me new things that I might not otherwise know about.

Variety is the spice of life, is it not? In writing for MagnetStreet Baby‘s blog, I’m mindful that each birth announcement reflects not only the unique style, but the unique story of that family.

A special example of this is in our adoption announcements. Two of the blogs I read are written by adoptive moms. At Queen B, her family is in the process of adopting Maria. They met her on a missions trip in Guatemala and fell in love.

Another favorite is Owlhaven - Mary is the mother of ten children, six of whom are adopted. She’s currently blogging about her adoption stories – each one is amazing!

Are you adopting, or do you know someone who is adopting? These announcements are a beautiful way to share the news of your child’s arrival. Depending on the circumstances of your adoption, the text can be modified to include separate text for birth dates and coming home dates. View more online – all sizes are available on linen paper or magnets.

Birth Announcements On Sale Now

monogram-birth-announcement-rw-10650I love our long and narrow birth announcements, reminiscent of a strip of photo booth photos. They have such a unique look. There’s just the right amount of room for the baby stats and a photo or two of your precious newborn. (Speaking of stats, why is it so important that we all know the baby’s height and weight?! Hmm…)

The even better news about this product is that the top 5 magnet designs are on sale now. Order by June 1 to receive a 20% discount on these designs.

Although the sale is limited to these five, remember that you can change the colors and fonts to suit your personal style. Click here for complete details on the sale.

Easter Birth Announcements

I know it’s a little late for this, but we’ve been sick, teething (molars!) and out of town, so I’m still catching up…

Plus, if you just had an Easter baby, chances are good that ordering birth announcements has fallen somewhere behind feedings, diapers and sleep on your to-do list! So here they are, direct from MagnetStreet Baby, the sweetest Easter birth announcements around…

Now bunnies and chocolate are all well and good, but I’d like to close this with a wonderful post about the real meaning of Easter. It’s written by MckMama, and I couldn’t really say it any better myself. If you’ve been hiding under a rock and haven’t seen the “praying for Stellan” or “Not Me Monday” buttons around the mommy blogosphere, check out My Charming Kids to learn more.

Hope Easter weekend was meaningful and special for you and your family! Did you do anything different this year from the past? What are your Easter traditions?

Ultimate Blog Party

Ultimate Blog Party 2009

Welcome to Notes from the Nest! If you’re visiting via the Ultimate Blog Party at 5 Minutes from Mom, thanks for stopping by. I’m Kara and it’s nice to meet you!

I blog about raising my son Tate, along with flashbacks to my pregnancy. My favorite part about blogging is the chance to share both the funny and the frustrating with others who are on the same journey.

My husband and I are both firstborns, but admitting that you have a problem is the first step, right? The good news is that all of our siblings are not  firstborns. Thankfully they’re willing to babysit Tate so that he has some good role models for breaking rules. (But please, only small rules, Uncle Mickey?)

We live in Minnesota. Yes, it gets very cold in the winter. No, my son’s first words were not “yah, sure, you betcha’!”. Actually, they were “mom”, “dad” & “hot”- how’s that for irony?

So, that’s a little about me. If you want to learn more, take off your coat and stay awhile!

If you’re a regular NFTN reader, make sure to check out 5 Minutes for Mom and especially the Ultimate Blog Party. You’ll find links to lots of great blogs and a chance to win fabulous prizes too.

For instance, I’d love to win:
53 – Signing Time Parent Success Kit from Two Little Hands Productions
89 — $100 gift card to HomeGoods from HG Openhouse
USC 70 — Organic Nest Egg take-a-long pillow from ,Blessed Nest
I’d also be interested in 58, 69, 19, 21, 22, 23, 27, 7, 91, 93, 102, USC16, USC70, USC15, USC30, USC66, 46 USC40, USC73 or USC12.

I hope you enjoy the party!

Spring Birth Announcements

We’ve had a beautiful week of 50 degree temps here in Minnesota. I realize that’s probably on the cool side for many of you, but it feels absolutely balmy to us (see Bitterly Cold for details).

Everyone is suddenly outside- jogging, walking dogs or pushing strollers. Tate and I stopped at the park during our walk yesterday, for a ride in the baby swing. All the “big” kids had on rubber boots for stomping through puddles and the still-muddy playground sand.

With spring in the air, I’m especially drawn to the birth announcements featuring fresh colors and elements of nature. What a fun time to welcome a new baby into your life!

There’s no guarantee that warm weather is here to stay in Minnesota this spring, but I guarantee that you’ll love these birth announcements! :) View many more great designs, for any season, at MagnetStreet Baby.

St. Patrick’s Day Birth Announcements

My husband and I agreed that we would not find out the gender of our baby ahead of time. Oddly enough, we had this discussion a few hours before getting engaged, which was a few years before getting pregnant. If you made the same decision (to be surprised about whether it’s a boy or girl, not whether to discuss it before getting engaged), you’ll know that you get quite a few green things at baby showers. Luckily for me, green is my favorite color!

At the same time, if you know what you’re having, but your due date is somewhere around March 17, then you may be receiving lots of green anyway!

These St. Patrick’s Day birth announcements will show off your little lad or lassie in sweet Irish style. And I know there are some of you that aren’t expecting a St. Patty’s baby, but will take any opportunity to declare your Irish heritage.

Either way, these announcements are so cute! There are more ways to “go green” online at MagnetStreet Baby.

Holiday-Themed Birth Announcements

My brother is a 6′ 6″ former football player, but don’t think that stops people from saying “awww, that’s so sweet” or even “you have a heart-shaped face!” when they hear that his birthday is on Valentine’s Day.

So to all of you expecting parents out there, my advice is “Embrace the Holiday-Birthday”! This doesn’t mean giving combo gifts to babies born on December 23, or making an October 31 kid skip trick-or-treating for birthday dinner with the family. But have some fun with it…

These holiday-themed birth announcements are a great way to start. Even if your little one isn’t born right on the holiday, you can still join in on the celebration. Thanks to the Pyle and Luma families for sharing their finished birth announcements with us. These are two adorable babies!

If you know that your due date is near a holiday, start browsing now. Or share this post with a friend or family member who’s expecting. Use this code to receive a 15% discount on your holiday products: NFTN15. There are magnetic and linen birth announcements for Valentine’s Day, St. Patrick’s Day, Easter, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Hanukkah, and Christmas. Are we missing your holiday? (I don’t see any Arbor Day announcements, for instance.) Let me know in the comments section, and I’ll pass the word on to our designers.

Happy Holi-Birthdays!

Birth Announcements for Twins

I used to make my husband watch Jon & Kate Plus 8 with me when I was pregnant, so that our new life with a baby wouldn’t seem so stressful, in comparison. Now that Tate is here, I’m in complete awe of those who have even twins, much less three or more babies. We won’t go into octuplets…

Are you preparing to welcome multiples into your family? Browse through these adorable birth announcements for twins. If you’re having triplets or more, ask our great customer service staff about modifying these or one of the other designs in our collection, to include more photos and stats.

Perhaps a friend or family member is expecting multiples- share this post with them, but more importantly, find out how you can help! Pamela Prindle Fierro, a mom of twin girls writing at About.com, suggests that you make specific offers, such as running errands or allowing mom to go into the store while you stay in the car with the babies. Or maybe there are chores that you could help with on a one-time or regular basis: dishes, laundry, housecleaning, yard work or car washing. Be creative!

Do any of you have twins or more, or know someone that does? What was most helpful, especially in those first few months after bringing the babies home?

If you could choose, how many babies would you have at once?
