Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!

We’re out Thursday and Friday enjoying family, friends and really big food!

We hope you are too!

This is my favorite holiday.  No pressure.  Just show up with something tasty, have a great time and be thankful.  Seriously thankful! My sister in law always hosts Thanksgiving… she has the most room and makes the best stuff! We have a huge crowd at Thanksgiving and my family is FUN! Offbeat jokes, sarcasms and general ridiculousness is the norm… Last year, I came up with this brilliant idea (an idea I borrowed of course) that at first, I had to explain over and over again but the perseverance was so worth it!

Cool Thanksgiving IDEA

Give everyone a piece of paper and a pen.  Put their name at the top. Instruct them to pass their paper (with their name on it) to the person on their left.  Next step~ tell everyone to write something they are grateful for about the person whose name is listed on the paper in front of them.  In the end, their piece of paper will return back to them with all these lovely things said about them… Huge success! Everybody thought it was so cool and personally, it brought a tear to my eye as I watched my family read their papers.   Ya never know the impact and timing of a cheerful word… Try it and let me know!

SO… hopefully, you don’t have to work the day after Thanksgiving~ you can lay around all morning with the only item on the “to do” list being to decorate for Christmas.  Ok, maybe that’s just my Thanksgiving Friday (let the internet do my shopping).

Real Wedding: Greg and Stacie

Categories Real Weddings

Stacie is a Customer Care Specialist extraordinaire at MagnetStreet Weddings.  And this is Stacie and Greg’s beautiful wedding~ accompanied by a few thoughts from Stacie on wedding planning, the wedding and marriage!  Stacie and Greg were married this past August in Wheaton, IL.

Ready… Set… JUMP!  This shot is hilarious!  #2 GM certainly looks like he’s got the most air but then our eyes rest on #5 GM… both legs at the same height, amazing.  But, have you ever seen a groom so composed, so centered, so debonair as he jumps over his bride?  No, I think not.  Greg you get a 10!  And Stacie~ total confidence with no thought to the possibility of getting whapped.  (your girls~ not so much) You get a 10 too!  Great shot.  Too fun!

Favorite part of the whole day: EVERYTHING!

Stacie, did anything happen to go a little astray wedding day? Greg’s best man dropped my ring when handing it to Greg.  Also, when I went to put Greg’s ring on his finger, I could not get it on.  We honestly loved it though~ it made the ceremony quite memorable!

(I love this because there is always something, isn’t there?)

Favorite part of wedding planning: Getting most of it done the first 2 months we were engaged. (another post on how she did it…)

Wedding Song: All Creatures of our God and King

First Dance: More Than Anyone… Gavin DeGraw

What advice would you give to brides now that you’re on the other side: It’s not the day that matters~ it is the marriage!

Wonderful advice indeed Stacie!  And what a beautiful couple you are!  Thank you so much for sharing some of your fabulous photos with the world!  BLESSINGS for a wonderful marriage and life together…

Country and Western Wedding Theme

Categories Inspiration + Wedding Stationery

I like to think that there’s a little bit of country in all of us… no matter if you’re from the city, suburbia or the wild, wild west.  Who doesn’t love to have a good time?  And, weddings should definitely be a good time!

When you add a western flair to our country wedding theme from last week’s inspiration, you will most likely see ten gallon cowboy hats, boots, lassos, and even horses or other livestock. Think about the last time you went to a rodeo, and visualize all that dust, drawl and drama transformed into a true country and western wedding theme!

You can go all out for this home-on-the-range themed wedding or just rope in a few favorites like the boots, hats, denim and, yes, just good old-fashioned barbeque.  I recently attended a wedding where they served barbequed chicken, ribs, and corn on the cob!  It was such a reflection of the couple and of course delicious.

Find a bride and cowboy cake topper like singer Jewel and her cowboy husband Ty Murray did.  And, how about some fiddle music ~ that sweet sweet sound of the bow gliding across the strings one moment, and the next the end of that bow moving every which direction and smokin’ fingers hopping wildly from note to note!  Can a person really resist getting up and dancing?  I think not!

Be sure to check out these images of a country wedding on Southern Weddings blog via photographer Ben Chrisman.  Cowboy boots and sitting on hay bales ~ can it get any more casually cowboy and real than this?

Have fun getting hitched!
