Real Wedding: Blake and Jenna

Categories Real Weddings + Wedding Stationery

I’m so excited to introduce this pretty pretty Minnesota wedding shot by the photography talent… Patrick Clancy of Patrick Clancy Photography.  I’m so impressed with Patrick’s seeming ability to be everywhere at once and at his marvelous attention to detail.  LOVE this color scheme… so energetic and fun, featuring lots of orchid with black, silver and bright green accents.  Enjoy all the color and the details!

By the way, Blake is the son of our Customer Care Rep, Sandy. yay!

Fall Wedding Inspiration

Categories Inspiration

I guess I’ve got “fall” on the brain!  How about you?  Perhaps your fall wedding is looming right around the seasonal corner and you’re looking for something extra… icing on the cake as it were. Well, hopefully the next few details will inspire you!

A Quintessentially Carved Pumpkin

Line the walkway or a path with pumpkins, sweetly carved with your monogram or another design that reflects something about your wedding theme. This bride and groom atop a wedding cake from Elizabeth Anne Designs is so adorable!

Is yours an outdoor wedding? Create pumpkin stations complete with easy patterns, newspaper {& wet wipes} for your guests to carve their own and take home with them.  It would make for a warm ambiance with them all lit up!

Vino Inspired

Love this real {eco-friendly} wedding found {here} where the couple collected wine corks from family and friends, strung them together and made a curtain out of them!

Fruit and Flora

And of course… fruit centerpiece are always a sure bet! Loving this simple centerpiece from Earth Friendly Weddings that beckons the look of fall with the fruit, seedlings and the jug of wine.  Replace the “personalized” wine jug with whatever you want…  maple syrup, homemade jam, cute little basket of 3-5 apples…

Ever iconic of the fall… what guest couldn’t resist the sweet aroma of Apple Cider Punch!

The Makings of a Visual Planning Guide

Categories Resources

My friend Lisa is a very busy bride-to-be and with an October ’09 Minnesota wedding in the works, I guess she has to be!  Since the first post… Lisa has found THE dress. Venue: the beautiful, marble-laid chapel at Northwestern College in St. Paul.  And, they’ve decided on the… wedding colors, florist, wedding party attire, reception food, decor and invitations!

How did they come to so many of these conclusions so quickly?
Lisa Created A Visual Planning Guide.

{I’ll let my organized friend explain}

“You want your wedding day to be beautiful, unique, reflective of your style…isn’t that true for all of us?

When I first began planning my wedding, I immediately started dreaming about the colors. My internal monologue began to roll: “What flowers would be in season? Mums…okay…so orange. What color goes with orange? Ooh–green. But are those colors me? My favorite colors are in the cool family: greens, blues, purples. Orange is not on the list. But the groom likes orange, so what if we added purple?” I needed to see it, so I made a color palette. But that wasn’t enough. I needed to visualize it across the wedding before I could commit to it. Thus, the Visual Planning Guide was born.

My original vision was to sketch it out with colored pencils, but then convenience won out and I just used design software instead. When I met with my florist, I brought it along and she loved it – much easier for her to get the vision when it’s all mapped out. Then I added images of the flowers we established for the bouquets and boutonnieres (which, by the way, is a word I NEVER spell right!). When I went home for a family reunion, it was SO much easier to describe the theme and decoration ideas having this little cheat sheet in hand.

Just in case you, too, need something to help you visualize your cohesive wedding dream, MagnetStreet agreed to let me post a blank version of my visual planner at MagnetStreet Weddings. You can find it here.  Have fun dreaming!”

They say that necessity is the mother of all inventions.  Thanks for this invention Lisa! If you too, need help with committing to a certain look and vision… download a blank version of the visual planning guide {it’s FREE} and give it a try.  If you do… let me know what you think!!
