Behind the Design: Rustic Military Wedding

Categories Inspiration + Wedding Stationery

We’re closing the week with a “Behind the Design” that celebrates a rustic military wedding wedding. Setting the tone for today’s inspiration is Rustic Military, a Foldover Pocket Wedding Invitation design that features iconic military symbols in a rugged and unique way. Here’s graphic designer, Megan, to tell us about her design and the inspiration behind it.

“Weddings blend two personalities together and often times, meld two different design styles. While many military weddings have a very classic formal wedding feel, there are also those that may desire to have a more rustic and playful feel. This rustic design features elements that are roughed, slightly askewed, and intermingled with playful word choices. Providing thoughtful nods to the armed forces, it’s a design to set the tone for a rustic military wedding.”

Tell us, what do you think of this unique and rustic military design?

Behind the Design: Mystical Spell

Categories Inspiration + Wedding Stationery

This rustic woodland wedding inspiration has a dark, ethereal beauty to it–much like Mystical Spell, the name of the Save the Date Card featured in today’s Behind the Design. This popular design features the trendy laurel leaf motif and a neutral color scheme of tan, black and white. Here’s Rachel to tell us more about this rustic woodland inspiration and photo Save the Date design.

“As I created this design I imagined myself to be up in the cool mountain air surrounded by mystical fog all around. This design will easily set the mood for an outdoorsy, but elegant wedding. With leaf illustrations surrounding your name and date and a speckled pattern in the background, it is easy to picture the scene being set for a rustic affair. The image itself has an organic shape which gives off a natural feel.”

Today’s Behind the Design concludes our *Love* theme week with a mood board that depicts a laid-back, rustic romantic wedding. Centering around Our Sweet Love, a Save the Date design that features a large photo and a background that looks textured and woven. Here’s Rachel, curator of Our Sweet Love, to tell us about her design and the inspiration behind it.

“Sweet, sweet summertime! This Save the Date Suite was inspired by a laid-back summer wedding. The neutral colors that are used in the background really allow your image to shine through and show off your love to family and friends. Bold text and a rustic woven texture are pulled together to create a vintage feeling to the design.

If you like this Save the Date layout, make sure to talk to your photographer and show him/her what you are thinking. For designs with text over the image, you will have the most success with images that have a lot of extra background. You want plenty of space to use without covering up important parts of the image!”

Behind the Design of a Woodsy Save the Date

Categories Inspiration + Wedding Stationery

Welcome to Behind the Design–where we take a look at the inspiration behind a certain stationery design–and how you can make it your own! Here’s Rachel to tell us about her Save the Date suite entitled, It’s Love.

It’s Love was so much fun to create! This design has a large photo in the background and graphic element on top of the photo. It’s Love uses a picture of a forest to really set the mood for a woodsy wedding. For your wedding, simply change up the image and let your own style shine through! The circle graphic is slightly nontransparent, which will allow the image behind it to peek through just a little. Personalize with colors that reflect your style–richer colors will give you a classic or vintage feeling, while a bright pop of color will set the stage for a more contemporary look. Use your imagination and play around with the images, colors, and fonts in this design. Just a few simple tweaks can completely change the look and feel of your Save the Date!

How would you personalize It’s Love Large Save the Date Card for your wedding?
