Behind the Design: Modern Fairytale

Categories Inspiration

Welcome to Behind the Design, our blog series that takes a peek into the inspiration behind the design–and from the designer’s point of view. Here’s Rachel to tell us about Modern Fairytale, a Save the Date design with a classic graphic element and a large background photo.

“This design was so much fun to create! It has a large photo in the background and a graphic element on top. On Modern Fairytale, the organic “laurel leaf” shape is fun, playful and whimsical. You can personalize this design with richer colors to get a classic or vintage feeling or change it up and use a bright pop of color to really set the stage for your wedding. Use your imagination and play around with the images, colors and even fonts in this design–just a few simple tweaks can completely change the look and feel of your Save the Date!”

Did your venues have special significance?

Our faith is very important to us and we wanted to have our ceremony in a church that holds the same beliefs as we do. We had a large number of guests to accommodate yet we wanted an intimate, personal feel–and Korean Central Presbyterian gave us that! It was perfect!

We live about 5 minutes away from the Hilton Hotel and we wanted the celebration to be somewhere local. This was perfect for us. We had our first few dates around the area, so we can always tie that memory together. This hotel also provided us with an intimate feeling that we always wanted for our big wedding.

Advice you’re glad you took
I’m a very organized and crafty gal and I do have some obsessive moments. One of my Godparents, Beatriz, told me that not every single thing would be perfect to my standards. But that whatever happens, I should always enjoy and make the best out of it! I’m so glad I followed her advice because our wedding turned out perfect!

Advice you wish you would have taken
My mom kept nagging me to take dance lessons for months before the wedding. But since my groom was recovering from a recent ankle surgery, I didn’t bother him with cool dance moves. The night before our wedding, my groom decided I should feel like a princess and that we should practice dancing. We watched some videos online and learned a few moves. It was fun and turned out quite well. But yes, I wish we had prepared a bit more and not the night before our wedding!

Advice you’d like to give
Not every detail will be perfect … so try not to worry. Enjoy every single moment. And for that moment to be preserved forever, invest in a good photographer and videographer.

Do You Believe in Fairytales?

Categories Real Weddings + Wedding Stationery

Melanie and Robert do!

Once upon a time … a handsome boy named Robert, met a beautiful girl named Melanie. Their story is one of love, splendor and romance. A magical telling of dreams that come true–even those rooted in childhood! In fact, “Dreams Do Come True” is Melanie and Robert’s wedding theme. I admit to tearing up while reading their proposal story–and of Melanie {one of 5, raised by a single mom} who has always dreamed of going to Disney World. Well, the dream came true–replete with a perfectly-fitting glass slipper! Enjoy as Melanie tells the tale leading up to these stunning fairytale-themed engagement photos.

Wedding Style: A traditional southern wedding centered around a royal theme.
Wedding Colors: Ivory and Gold with a splash of soft pink
Formal Engagement Session Location: The Sterling Castle in Shelby, AL

Photographer: Lori and Lynn Cummings at Appear Photography
Save the Date: MagnetStreet Weddings

Did the Sterling Castle have special significance?

Oh yes! My fiancé planned an elaborate five stage proposal at Disney World in Cinderella’s castle. His fairy-tale proposal laid the foundation for our wedding theme, “Dreams Do Come True!” The moment was so magical that I did not want it to end! So, in keeping with our royal theme, we decided to take formal engagement pictures at a castle {something different from the norm}. I searched the internet for hours to find a castle in Alabama, which I thought would be virtually impossible! However, I was surprised to find six of them! When I saw the pictures of the Sterling Castle, I knew that was the perfect place to capture our next magical moment!

Vendor Shout Out
Appear Photography
Lori & Lynn surpassed all of my expectations with this engagement photo shoot! I knew I wanted everything to look “royal”, but beyond that I could not articulate every detail. We had the venue and the attire, but their photojournalistic style made the pictures more than I could have imagined! They took so many wonderful shots, it made it hard to pick one for the save the date! They have a great eye for photography and posed my fiance and I in so many ways. I am incredibuly grateful to have a lifetime of memories from this special day!

MagnetStreet Weddings

I highly recommend them!

Yay! Congratulations Melanie and Robert. We wish that all of your dreams come true! Blessings to you both and thanks so much for sharing your fairytale with us!

A Fairytale Wedding

Categories Resources

is simply enchanting… embracing a formal elegance that is dramatic and timeless.

While glass slippers are optional, think ballgowns and sweetheart necklines, cathedral veils, elbow length gloves, tiaras, tuxedos and matching bridesmaid dresses.

Think roses, crystals, a beautiful ballroom and flowing champagne.

Choose formal Invitations and consider elegant Script fonts such as: BICK, CORO, DISK, MEDC, NUPT AND ZAPF.  Pair these Script fonts with such Serif fonts as: CAVE and GOUD.

exquisite… timeless… elegant

is this your style?
