I work on a computer all day. In the evening I would much rather page through a magazine at my own pace than be online.

You certainly can't hug your computer like you do a soft pliable magazine!

I agree with all the ladies who has commented thus far. I am a blog reader on a daily basis, but I love having something to carry a long with me--or when I am spending time watching a sporting event online with me fiance I can scan a few pages and still be spending time with him :)

I have to agree with you in that magazines serve a purpose no computer or website could ever fulfill in the same way. Don't get me wrong, like you I love the Internet and all that I can find and enjoy there, but there is something to be said about the feeling of the pages between your fingers, the layout of the pages and the joy you feel when you bring home a new issue. I definitely read blogs more on a day-to-day basis, simply because of its accessibility and frequency. However, I still frequent many magazines and don't think I could forego them for an online version of itself. I, too, hope the print industry survives and adapts!

I am a busy full time employed mom with a 5 year old that is involved in some after school activities, I wait for her either in my car or the lobby, so carrying my canvas bag with my fav. books/magazines is more convenient than carrying my notebook/laptop along. I enjoy flipping through the pages.

I agree with you about slowing down and enjoying what I read and save it for later. Also, I don't have a laptop and like to do most of my reading in a comfy chair with my feet up. Even if I did have a laptop I think it would not be as comfy with a bulky and hard LT on my lap as a book or magazine.
I vote that the magazine industry keep producing those soft pages!

Ahhh, reading! You have touched on one of my very favorite topics! Have to say that I do more reading online, but find myself fighting the tendency to skim if I am not immediately engaged. Maybe its because I think there might be a better site or blog about the topic than what I'm reading. After all, there is just so much available via the web, and I hate wasting time.

But, with a book or magazine somehow the tangibility of holding it in my hands, taking it with me wherever I go, bending the binding back, underlining, writing stuff in the margin...somehow I think I probably learn more with the printed and bound cuz I interact with it more.

I love both mediums (just ask my husband). But, the sensory experience of the printed and bound is something to really savor.

I read more blogs on a day-to-day basis, but there is something about getting a magazine in the mail (I get giddy because it's like a little gift just for me), taking it and sitting in a comfy place and reading it at your own leisure (without having to bookmark the site and come back later).

I definitely prefer relaxing and reading from a magazine, but if I'm in the mood for a quick inspiration or information I think blogs are the way to go.
