CONGRATULATIONS to all my newly-engaged readers!

You have my sympathy!

No NO… not because you’re engaged but because of all the decisions you have to make so quickly out of the engagement gate.  I was once again reminded of this as I sat listening to the plans of my newly-engaged friend~ Nalie.

because ASAP after sharing the joyous news there’s…

setting the date! Picking the best date can be a complete feat in itself! Many couples have close family and friends that will need to make travel arrangements or plan around vacations, school schedules or other activities…

find ceremony and reception sites based on your chosen date! And, you need a close estimate on your guest count so your venue can accommodate the number.

Not to mention… choosing formality, style and colors and setting that budget!!

    The most challenging aspect I initially faced when planning my wedding — had to be telling my parents I was getting married in about sixty days! We picked the anniversary of our first date – June 16 – and didn’t want to wait another year! Believe it or not we pulled it off!

    I am about 11 months out, with all of the major decisions made. I believe we have all of our vendors at this.

    Our most challenging aspect was deciding to wait an additional year – we will have been engaged for over three years when we get married. We decided to wait until my fiance graduated, and when that was delayed, we had to decide what to do about the wedding.

    I’m about 2 months in. I ‘thought’ I was prepared for being engaged since I’ve been reading wedding blogs for 2 years before my guy proposed. Prepared?! NOPE!

    What picked out date was the venue and what picked the venue was the amount of people it could hold and price.

    Our guest list isn’t finalized, but a rough estimate has tripled. I’m very happy to have our date, church, and reception book. Although I do still feel behind. Photographer is next!
