10 Common Sense Tips for Beautiful Skin:

1.  Get enough sleep! Just think about how much sleep everyone got before electricity! If you know you need 8 hours, don’t try to get by on 5.

2. Eat right- Eat fruits and veggies high in vitamin C {strawberries, citrus fruits, red peppers, broccoli} Nuts like sunflowers seeds and almonds have vitamin E and will help protect the skin from UV free radicals. Spinach, squash and red veggies are full of antioxidants. Lean meats, poultry, are good for getting zinc and iron and a healthy glow. Whole grains will help with clearer skin.  {check out the resource links below for the how & why}

3. Drink lots of water! Our bodies are mostly water so flush away those toxins with more of it. Try to drink about 6-8 glasses a day.

4. Minimize sun exposure Wear sun protection and use a quality and natural lip balm.

5. Don’t smoke! Not only bad for your heart and lungs, it causes wrinkles and is a skin-nutrient sucker.

6. Reduce your stress! Stress is hard to avoid but it just wreaks havoc on our minds and bodies. Find time each day to do what it takes to reduce your stress.

7. Exercise! A great stress reducer- plus, sweating is another excellent way to get those toxins out of your body.

8. Avoid HOT showers! We all love hot showers but it actually removes oils from the skin.

9. Use a good moisturizer! here’s my personal tip… I use organic coconut oil for my moisturizer {and yes, the kind you cook with} It’s natural, filled with antioxidants and does a great job of softening and healing the skin! And, although I haven’t tried it, it’s supposedly good for your hair too.

10. KISS Philosophy {keep it simple sweeties}- staying as close to natural ingredients and remedies as possible. As always, seek a professional for guidance and problem areas and issues.

Did you know that your sense of smell is your strongest sense? Another amazing way to remember your wedding day is with a sumptuous signature scent! Don’t wait too long to find yours though. It takes a while to decide on just the right fragrance. In fact, it is said that you should wear a scent at least three times, before you buy. You need to know that it is blends well with your body chemistry.

Let your nose be your guide… which general fragrance family do you naturally gravitate to: fresh, floral oriental or woody? What did you or will you be wearing on your big day?

Fit for a Bride in 2011

WOW… January 4th already!  Just look at that brand New Year in front of us … all shiny and filled with hopes, dreams, and healthy choices! It’s the perfect time of year to readjust, realign and reinvigorate those areas in our lives.

Raise your hand if your getting married. Congratulations! Now raise your hand if you want to get into better shape for your wedding. I see lots of hands out there. And, we did just get through the holidays … I’ll bet many of you tried going to the gym last night~ but couldn’t even find a parking spot! Uh-huh, I thought so. We all have the same thing on our minds.

Let’s craft an easy, workable plan for 2011

Practical Tips for getting in shape in 2011

No hype. Nothing complicated. Just good old-fashioned common sense tips that work!

1. Keep a food diary and keep track of what you’re eating every day. Those who keep track are more likely to lose more weight than those who don’t. You can’t deny what’s written down … plus you’ll know when you can have a treat.

2. Drink a lot of water. Water flushes away the toxins and helps with digestion. Our bodies are mostly made up of water you know.

3. Exercise- you need to burn more calories than you take in. Do yoga, strength training, take the stairs, walk at lunch, zumba, spin, kick-box … Move that body!

4. Eat a healthy breakfast with protein + fiber -  the most important meal of the day!

5. Eat 5-6 smaller meals per day to help raise your metabolism and keep your sugar levels even.

6. DO NOT UNDER EAT because that, my darlings, will SLOW your metabolism.

7. Chew your food well. You’ll enjoy your food more and you’ll stop when your full. So simple and oh-so practical.

8. Eat more veggies, fruits and whole grains.

9. Cut down or cut out the fried foods, alcohol, pop, refined flours and sugars.

10. NO PILLS or gimmicks or quick weight loss schemes. First of all they are totally unhealthy and do not promote a lifestyle change.

11. Welcome accountability. Get a fitness partner. Join a group. Proclaim your goals out loud.

HAVE FUN. Use tools that will help you achieve your goals.
