Save the Date! Kelly, Janet, and Brandy Engaged

Categories Wedding Stationery

A trio of Tinseltown’s hottest singers ended the year on an especially “high note”: Kelly Clarkson, Janet Jackson, and Brandy Norwood ALL got engaged (or their engagement was announced) in the last month! What an exciting time for these lovely ladies.

To celebrate their upcoming nuptials, we’re doing a special “trio” edition of Celebrity Save the Date! (For those new to our blog, Celebrity Save the Date is a recurring series where we pick which Save the Date designs best fit our favorite {engaged} celebs.

How will Kelly, Janet, and Brandy “save the date”? See our predictions below!

Kelly Clarkson & Brandon Blackstock

The two-time Grammy Award winner couldn’t keep the excitement to herself: a day after Blackstock proposed, Clarkson posted a Tweet about her engagement on Twitter, adding a link to see her ring–a dazzling, GIANT canary yellow diamond that Blackstock helped design with Johnathon Arndt. Although no major details have been dished about a wedding date or location, we think Kelly might splash a little yellow into her wedding color palette, to match the sunny hue of her gorgeous canary ring. We think she might soften the punchy yellow with a mellow gray tone, to keep it airy and romantic. After all, Kelly loves to her mix punk-pop style with girly accessories!

Our pick for Kelly and Brandon? Watercolor Poppies Save the Date Magnet, in a cheerful yellow and gray palette:

Janet Jackson & Wissam Al Mana

Miss Jackson has reportedly been engaged to Al Mana (Qatar-based billionaire/luxury brand mogul) since sometime last year, although it’s rumored that her ring is too big (aka expensive!) to be safely worn in public (what’s the fun in that, though?). The wealthy duo, who met in 2009, are rumored to be planning a a big spring wedding in Doha, the capital city of Qatar, Al Mana’s home base.

If they do fly guests in for their Qatari wedding, we think our Vintage Tag Save the Date Magnet would be “just the ticket” for the two lovebirds. We could see them drawing inspiration from the area, using a vibrant palette of jewel tones like turquoise, gold, and indigo blue. Stunning, no?

Brandy Norwood & Ryan Press

Whether it’s from the new sparkle on her finger or from the Hawaiian sun, the successful actress/R&B singer seemed to be *glowing* in her snapshot she shared via Instagram.

Now that Brandy is engaged to Ryan Press, a music executive, we wonder how the beautiful couple will “save the date” for their wedding. They seem to be loving their time in Hawaii, so I wouldn’t be surprised if they escape somewhere tropical for their upcoming nuptials. We could see them pairing an elegant design like Platinum Brocade Save the Date Magnet with an earthy palette of amber, rust, and brown. A calming (and winning) combo!

So there they are, our top pick for each songstress. What do you think? Did we hit (or miss) the mark? Feel free to share your thoughts!

How Will Two Canadian Rockers Save the Date?

Categories Wedding Stationery

A match made in pop-rock heaven: Avril Lavigne is engaged to Nickelback’s Chad Kroeger!

The famous rock band frontman proposed to Avril on August 8th, presenting her with her very own “rock” band— a stunning 14-carat diamond ring (yowzers!).

The announcement of Chavril’s (the latest celebrity name mashup) engagement comes after just six months of dating. Their relationship began back in February after the two teamed up to co-write a song on Avril’s next studio album.

Although there’s no date set yet, we can’t help but think ahead and wonder: What will Avril and Chad’s Save the Date look like? Yes, it’s time for another Celebrity Save the Date!

After browsing our collection, I drummed up a few Save the Date designs that I think would suit these two Canadian rockers.

Photos and Rings - Save the Date by MagnetStreet

Photo and Rings

Avril’s favorite fashion palette is anything black, white, and/or pink. That’s why I think the singer would swoon over this bold Save the Date design. The black background provides a dramatic backdrop for the pops of pink in front. Elegance with an edge…perfect for the romantic rock duo!

Hearts and Skulls - Save the Date by MagnetStreet

Hearts and Skulls

Known for her funky fashions, Avril launched her own clothing line a few years back–dubbed Abbey Dawn (her childhood nickname). Skulls appear on garments throughout her collection, from zip-up hoodies to tank tops and pajamas. With its repeating pattern of skulls, this Save the Date would fit right in with her fashion line. And, in typical Avril style, the skulls are softened with “heart-shaped” eyes and bones.

Garden with a Twist

Both feminine and funky, this Save the Date design would definitely fit Avril’s style. The punk-pop princess loves to add girly touches (like pink hair streaks) to her grungy, “skater” styles. This design echoes her eclectic fashion, pairing floral flourishes with gritty, rough textures.

So there they are — our top three Save the Date picks for Avril and Chad. Which design do you think fits them best? Do you have another design in mind for the pair? I’d love to hear your thoughts!

Happy Friday!

Jennifer Aniston Engaged! Celebrity Save the Date

Categories Wedding Stationery

Happy Friday!

As many of you might know, America’s favorite “Friend” is officially engaged! Jennifer Aniston is set to marry boyfriend Justin Theroux after he proposed to her on his 41st birthday (August 10). Ring rumors abound, but we hear it’s topped with a sparkling 8-carat, emerald-cut diamond.

Here at Truly Engaging, we couldn’t be happier for the beautiful big-screen couple. As wedding stationers, we can’t help but wonder: What will their Save the Date look like?  You know that means: time for another Celebrity Save the Date feature!

Along with our editorial intern, Kathryn, I pored over our collection and found three Save the Date designs that might suit these savvy screen stars.

Forever Yours - Save the Date by MagnetStreet

Forever Yours

Jen’s classic, yet casual style would radiate on this “Forever Yours” Save the Date design. Since her fashion is never over the top, adding a romantic photo of the happy couple is the perfect touch of subtle sophistication.

Umbrella for Two - Save the Date by MagnetStreet

Umbrella For Two

Jen and Justin’s comfortable, California lifestyle matches this beachy Save the Date design. The couple went on a sunbathing-filled European vacation in June (renting a luxurious boat to cruise off of Capri island), so maybe they’ll plan a destination wedding “under the sun” of Italy!

Vision of Love - Save the Date by MagnetStreet

 Vision of Love

When it comes to clothing, Jennifer and Justin seem to embrace the same fashion philosophy: casual, yet chic, and anything black/white/neutral!  Therefore, I think they would love this simple, yet elegant Save the Date design. No punchy patterns, no crazy colors…just a beautiful script font paired with a classic black-and-white palette.

So there they are…our top three Save the Date picks for Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux. Did we hit the mark? Do you have another design in mind? We’d love to hear your thoughts!

About the wedding

To make the wedding the most relaxed it could be, we decided on Hawaii for the big day. We went there for a holiday at Christmas with my family a few years before and just loved the laid back style and the amazing scenery that the Big Island has to offer. We’re really into traveling so we knew that a destination was our best option, and the added bonus that all of our friends and family can get together and have one massive holiday!

Highlights of the day:

  • The Anthem Battle.  Journey vs. Khe San (Australian’s version of Journey). We had Dave and I out there belting out the words to both and the confused look on the face of the opposing nation was priceless!
  • My dress.  I used the lace from my mom’s dress to make the top of mine and some of my father ashes (he passed away a few years ago) was tucked into my bouquet. We released him privately a few days after the ceremony.  The shell of my mother’s dress I had altered to fit me for the rehearsal.
  • Our friends.  Dave and I have been fortunate to be friends with many people and who are all important to our lives. It was beautiful to see girls I lived in France with getting along so well with my friends in Cairns.
  • Our families.  They have actually gotten so close, Dave’s mom is coming with us to Michigan for Christmas this year!!
  • Simplicity. We arranged a bus service from an area where everyone was staying (Waikoloa Beach Resort). It picked them up and took them home at the end of the night. We also rented an extra room and hired a babysitter so our guests could relax.

How did you and Dave meet?

I came to Australia after graduating college (University of Florida) and planned on staying for 4 months and returning back to the states.  I came to Cairns a couple days after landing in Sydney and was quickly running out of funds so I landed a job bar-tending a corporate tent at the Cairns Amateurs, the city’s largest horse races of the year. The tent I was assigned to was Dave’s social club’s tent …  We went for drinks a couple of times and started dating shortly after.

Since my visa was expiring, I was going back to the states to decide if I would leave everything I knew and move to Australia for a year, or stay and go on the traditional path. Well, Dave and his friend changed their holiday plans to come to the states at Christmas and Dave came to my Mom’s house for a few days. He bought me a one way ticket to Cairns and was pretty sure that I wasn’t going to come back. I nearly didn’t because of snow storms and getting stuck in elevators, but I made it and haven’t looked back since.

The reception was under large rain trees coated in Christmas lights and paper lanterns.  The food was all buffet and traditional Luau food–we even included the one thing Dave wanted most–a pig! The little guy was cooked in the ground and there was an Imu ceremony to bring it to the table to be served.

Fun fact about the Best Man

Did you notice that the Best Man is Steven Bradbury? Steven is the Australian short track speed skater who won the Olympic Gold in 2002, when everyone else fell over except for him! Do you remember? Unbelievable! Have a look here to relive that incredible race.

Congratulations Dave and Claudette. Thanks so much for sharing your lovely day with us. We wish you many blessings to come and many more holidays that bring your families together!
