DIY Wedding of Pinks and Pinwheels

Categories Real Weddings

Much thanks to Jennifer Van Elk Photography for sharing Chelsea and Andrew’s pink and blue DIY wedding with us today. Not only is it full of fun twists on tradition, it’s also full of personality, pretty pinks, and handcrafted sweetness. Coffee replaced cocktails at Chelsea and Andrew’s dry wedding while yard games kept guests busy while help converted the ceremony area into a reception.

Donned in lace, a birdcage veil and TOMS shoes, Chelsea made a lovely modern-vintage bride. The bridesmaids wore an array of patterned pinks and instead of flowers, carried large pinwheels. The guys were casually dressed in khakis and wore pinwheel boutonnieres.

There is much to love about Chelsea and Andrew’s DIY wedding and a few favorite highlights include: their DIY ceremony backdrop, their twist on the unity candle tradition, their bunting cake topper, a surprise flash dance from the wedding party and their lavender send-off. Enjoy!

Today’s Behind the Design concludes our *Love* theme week with a mood board that depicts a laid-back, rustic romantic wedding. Centering around Our Sweet Love, a Save the Date design that features a large photo and a background that looks textured and woven. Here’s Rachel, curator of Our Sweet Love, to tell us about her design and the inspiration behind it.

“Sweet, sweet summertime! This Save the Date Suite was inspired by a laid-back summer wedding. The neutral colors that are used in the background really allow your image to shine through and show off your love to family and friends. Bold text and a rustic woven texture are pulled together to create a vintage feeling to the design.

If you like this Save the Date layout, make sure to talk to your photographer and show him/her what you are thinking. For designs with text over the image, you will have the most success with images that have a lot of extra background. You want plenty of space to use without covering up important parts of the image!”

Flight and Picnic-themed Engagement Session

Categories Real Weddings

Love–and good love stories are definitely in the air today! And today’s love story stars Tisha and Larry, a cute couple that “met by chance” in the Atlanta airport 12 years ago. The only things they had in common at that point were flight issues on their way to Japan. But since their chance encounter, they’ve become friends–best friends–and have stayed that way! They’ve also come to realize that marrying your best friend is a great idea! Through a flight-themed engagement session with fun picnic props and sweet signage, Tasha Prescott Photography has encapsulated Tisha and Larry’s love story in pictures. Enjoy.

P.S. Come on over to MagnetStreet’s Facebook page to read over a few of the sweet love encounters from many of you. Don’t forget to like us while you’re there.
