Decorating With Edible Flowers

Categories Inspiration

Hopefully the weather is cooperating with the date on the calendar and spring has actually sprung in your area!  In any case, you know what SPRING BRINGS…

flowers and sunshine and color! Oh Yeah!

Flowers at a wedding?  Of course!  But, what about decorating with edible flowers?  You can make a gorgeous and colorful statement simply by using edible flowers as garnishes along the buffet… in the salad… in the soup… and on the dessert.  Another beautiful presentation option… making ice cubes with edible flowers inside or adding colorful flower petals to a punch bowl or in the ice ring.

But, the deal with edible flowers… you need professional guidance from the pros.  You certainly don’t want pesticides and noxious plants gracing your wedding tables.  So, if you would like to grow your own and/or decorate with edible flowers, be sure to first talk with a florist {and the caterer} who specialize in edible flowers.

Creative Groom’s Cakes

Categories Fashion

The groom’s cake is a southern tradition and as funky superstitious traditions go, single women at the wedding would take a piece of the groom’s cake home, put it under their pillows that night and expect to dream blissfully of the man they will soon marry… kinda cute.

Or, you could just use the tradition of the groom’s cake as an opportunity to honor your groom.  Surprise him with a cake that is totally fun and totally about him!  Since the groom’s cake should look nothing like the wedding cake, you have complete permission to be in stark contrast and have a blast designing a cake that highlights some fabulous aspect of his personality, hobby, profession, etc.  The whole idea behind the groom’s cake is to honor him… here are a few great ideas from

Two all beef pattys anyone?

How incredible is this drum set?  My husband is a drummer and I know he would just love this!

For the wine connoisseur… Doesn’t it look like you could just pick up a bottle of Pinot Noir?

Impressive.  Hopefully, they taste as good as they are works of art!

What style of cake would your husband be impressed with?

Cake Toppers Made in Your Likeness

Categories Fashion

I happened upon these amazing cake toppers from Thumbprint Kids Cake Toppers and Figurines and couldn’t help but share them with you.  Each figurine is made in the likeness of the bride and groom and are hand-made from polymer clay.  The artist renders the likeness from photos.  I am having so much fun admiring her work.  (Btw, each photo will link back to the original photos so you can see and admire the toppers from every side and in further detail).

It’s astonishing how much of the bride and groom’s personality comes through in their faces and postures. There is so much playfulness to them.  How about that cute pug in the fold of her dress?

Check out the detail in the dresses, the flowers, the pups.  What’s so great is that they’re not cookie cutter, truly personalized in the image you want…  Too fun!  What a great keepsake.
