Color Monday: Warm and Romantic September Wedding

Categories Inspiration + Wedding Stationery

A perfect “Color Monday” for some cool mid-September inspiration! Today our color scheme of regal neutrals provides just the right amount of drama we need for a romantic wedding in the woods. This palette is so down to earth yet with the accompaniment of gold, hints of warmth and glamour. Setting the tone for this woodland affair is a Rectangle Invite from the Luminous Charm suite. Dangling string lights and dramatic typography draw attention to your names and right away–you know it’s going to be a fun party! Can you see this design in your wedding colors?

Behind the Design: Modern Geometric Wedding

It’s Friday “Behind the Design” day and we’re taking a peek into one of Rachel’s newest Wedding Invitation Suites: Geometric Dragonfly.

It’s no secret that geometrics are hot in the wedding industry. Now combine those bright, bold shapes to create a dragonfly inspired theme and you have something totally fresh. That is what I had in mind with this design suite and it was so much fun to create! I used a sparkly glitter texture throughout the suite pieces and it really adds another fun and modern element. The tall, skinny fonts and white space really make this modern design perfect for the modern couple looking for something new and different.

What Does a Modern Wedding Invitation Look Like?

Categories Wedding Stationery

Don’t you just love the freedom found in the look and feel of modern wedding invitations? We sure do. Personality and playfulness is allowed to shine through when there isn’t a set of stringent rules in wording or color to follow. I’ve received 3 wedding invitations recently {yes, MagnetStreet designs :) }. All three are unique–from color and design, to enclosures, fonts and wording–each suite is a sweet reflection of the couple. It was fun to see their personalities translated in their wedding invitations!

Put a modern spin on traditional wording

Be encouraged to give traditional wording an updated look on your wedding invitations! Fun opening wording or an unexpected text placement adds personality that encourages guests to pore over every detail. Through color, design, and unique wording, you’ll be able to share your flare in the style and spirit of your wedding.

Every invitation needs these 5 elements:

  • invitee or host{s}
  • who’s getting married
  • time
  • date
  • location

Tips for traditional wedding invitation wording

  • Use third-person wording
  • Be consistent with spelling:  honour | favour vs. honor | favor
  • Use Roman numerals in names (instead of second or 2nd): John Merril II
  • Avoid abbreviations

Spell out days, dates, times, addresses and titles:

  • Saturday, the twenty-third of July
  • Two thousand fifteen
  • at two o’clock in the afternoon
  • Doctor David Johnson
  • street, boulevard, avenue

How are you putting a modern spin on your wedding invitations?

Modern-Vintage Florida Real Wedding

Categories Real Weddings + Wedding Stationery

We’re so very excited to share Jeff and Christine’s dream wedding–a modern day romance filled with a mixture of vintage and playful details. Christine had these lovely things to say about their beautifully curated wedding, “I didn’t want our wedding to feel like a theme. Jeff and I dated for 10 years before we got married, so we wanted our wedding style to simply represent us and our love for each other. When it came to color we went with neutrals plus pops of color. My favorite details were the ones that had meaning behind them. My dad had passed away a few years ago, so I had a piece of his old work shirt sewn over my heart in my dress. Jeff is a huge marvel comics fan, so I made pinwheel flowers for him and his groomsmen out of marvel fabric that would become part of the boutonnieres. And our wedding venue was seriously great and unique–and old building converted into a modern art lounge.”

Bravo photographer Aaron Bornfleth for such a beautiful rendering of the day. Without further ado…

Wedding Day Highlights…
There were honestly so many … From hanging out with the girls all morning long, over looking St. Pete Beach, to reading the most amazing letter from my husband to be, our first look, an incredibly personal ceremony done by the most amazing officiant, to dancing the night away.

Best part of the whole wedding day…
Marrying my best friend and being able to celebrate with family and friends. Jeff and I live about 2 hours from our venue, which was the least amount of travel time for a few of our local friends. Everyone else either drove or flew across the country to spend the day with us. It seriously meant the world to us to be able to spend the day with these people.

About your dress…
I had the hardest time shopping for my dress here in Florida. I would find faults with everything. It was then I realized that it was my mom missing from the shopping experiences that I was actually missing. So on a trip up to Michigan I planed a few bridal appointments and that’s when we found my dress (Watters). I actually didn’t have the “this is the dress” feeling at first, but my mom did. I slept on the decision, and went back to try it on the next day (after revisiting a few favorites). Momma’s always know best, because I absolutely fell in love with it the next day.

Everything was perfect. We used the special design request with most of our items and absolutely loved this feature. It allowed us to make everything exactly how we wanted. The quality of the products (we ordered save the dates, invites, rsvp, thank you cards, and my mom ordered my shower invites too) was great, but my favorite part was the customer service. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience.
